Carolina Advanced Digital Expands Managed Security Services Division

The division now offers customized “RacPack” product to all small-medium businesses www.racpacksecurity.com CARY, N.C. (October 6, 2009)–Carolina Advanced Digital, Inc., an engineering focused VAR with specialization in IT network infrastructure, management and security solutions, is expanding their managed security services offering to all small-medium businesses. The division was inspired by demand from small and medium businesses needing the same technical security protections Carolina Advanced Digital had been providing to their enterprise customers in the federal, SLED and corporate markets. The solution needed to provide basic protections on par with the offerings to the enterprise customers but without the high cost or the requirement for specialized IT security engineers on the customer staff. This led to the creation of a product known as the RacPack—a network and WAN security system contained within a single, lockable enclosure comprising the equipment, applications and services necessary to provide the essential Internet and network data security protections required to operate a business. The RacPack was designed in 2004 by John Jabbusch, president and chief engineer of Carolina Advanced Digital, and is currently available for as little as $200 per month. “We have been developing, testing and producing the RacPack for several of our customers for almost six years,” stated Jabbusch. “Following these phases, we have demonstrated an up time of nearly 100 percent with no remediation requests.” “During this same period, we developed a ‘tuning’ methodology, which has resulted in a managed security system requiring fewer than one firewall change per quarter, on average. We have also become comfortable with our design, processes and procedures to the extent that we are now ready to...

Jennifer Jabbusch Addresses U.S. Secret Service on Secure Wireless Networking

March 17, 2009 On Tuesday, CISO and Network Security Specialist Jennifer Jabbusch addressed wireless security for the U.S. Secret Service’s Electronic Crimes Task Force (USSS ECTF) at their quarterly meeting at the Charlotte field office.  Jabbusch explained the technical aspect of how wireless networks, phones and devices can put individuals and their families and organizations at risk and how to implement intelligent security. She accompanied Jack Wiles, president of The Training Co. and renowned physical security pen-tester, who further addressed physical security issues. “Wireless networking is turning from luxury to requisite in the enterprise world as the last few holdouts in government and high-risk commercial are starting to sprout antennas,” said Jabbusch. “Securing airborne communications is a never-ending task as we struggle to keep ahead of network hackers and data snatchers. As security professionals, we’re always just a step ahead of the curve with wireless technologies.” Among the 70 or more attendees were Secret Service agents, electronic crime and fraud investigators, law enforcement officers and at-risk private sector agencies, including financial institutions and large commercial organizations. The next day, Jabbusch had already received half a dozen emails from guests.  One organization noted that ”as an immediate outcome of the presentation, we are now preparing a security bulletin to encourage all laptop users to address these specific threats.” For more information on wireless security, contact Carolina Advanced Digital, Inc. at 800-435-2212.
