The opening keynote of a conference sets the tone of the day and aligns expectations for what’s to come. With an expanded two-day conference format for 2015, IT Hot Topics Conference offers attendees twice the opportunity to experience gifted and inspiring keynotes.

Sumaelected for this year’s opening keynote of the IT Hot Topics Conference is Dr. Uma Gupta, a renowned Professor of Business at the State University of New York, perhaps most recognized for her successes as an advocate for STEM disciplines in education. Mrs. Gupta, a true Renaissance woman of many talents, delicately weaves multiple disciplines of neuroscience and human behavior in her explorations of personal growth and leadership. A highly-sought speaker on topics of STEM, leadership development, technology leadership, and technology challenges and trends, Mrs. Gupta is a perfect fit for the professionals who will attend the IT Hot Topics Conference this May.

Dr. Gupta has been the recipient of many prestigious awards and recognition for her work, including named in the Top Ten Influential Women in Technology in Houston, Texas, and nominated again for the award in Rochester, New York. Dr. Gupta was awarded the Women of Distinction Award by Girl Scouts, in addition to other awards and acknowledgements. She also serves on the National Liaison Task Force for STEM for the American Association of University Women, two entrepreneurial endeavors, and acts as a leadership and organizational development consultant to several US organizations and educational institutions.

Mrs. Gupta’s keynote on Wednesday will kick off two tracks of content at the conference – the conference’s main breakout sessions for professionals, and the new Cyber Security Student Track, a track for local high school students attending the event by special invitation. Students from high schools in North Carolina competing in the CyberPatriot challenge will attend the Cyber Security Student Track, where they’ll have access to nationally-recognized speakers including Dr. Gupta and sessions tailored for their interests. More information on the Cyber Security Student Track is available on the conference website.
