CARY, N.C. (October 6, 2009)–Carolina Advanced Digital, Inc., an engineering focused VAR with specialization in IT network infrastructure, management and security solutions, is expanding their managed security services offering to all small-medium businesses. The division was inspired by demand from small and medium businesses needing the same technical security protections Carolina Advanced Digital had been providing to their enterprise customers in the federal, SLED and corporate markets. The solution needed to provide basic protections on par with the offerings to the enterprise customers but without the high cost or the requirement for specialized IT security engineers on the customer staff. This led to the creation of a product known as the RacPack—a network and WAN security system contained within a single, lockable enclosure comprising the equipment, applications and services necessary to provide the essential Internet and network data security protections required to operate a business. The RacPack was designed in 2004 by John Jabbusch, president and chief engineer of Carolina Advanced Digital, and is currently available for as little as $200 per month.

The basic RacPack security service incorporates more than 10 essential components for up to 10 users, as well as installation, 8×5 support and next-business-day repair or replacement. The highlighted features include: network connectivity; firewall/UTM with anti-spyware and anti-virus at the gateway; intrusion detection and prevention; e-mail attachment filtering; content filtering; wired guest access; 24×7 monitoring with weekly reporting; basic usage and security policies; and integrated UPS.

Businesses also have the choice to include optional features, such as backup and disaster recovery, secure wireless, guest wireless, disk encryption, custom reports and more network ports, for an additional monthly fee.
